Graduate students and researchers with and understanding of the basic concepts of probability and statistical inference
Review of basic concepts: statistical distributions, sample distributions, types of variables, principles of significance testing
Relationships among variables: association and dependence. Measuring association and dependence. Correlation coefficients (for 2 or more variables) and coefficient of determination. Regression (simple). Linear and nonlinear regression
Models for continuous responses and discrete explanatory variables (1 OF 2): ANOVA models (single factor, random blocks, repeated measures, nested designs)
Models for continues responses and discrete explanatory variables (2 OF 2): ANOVA models (factorial designs).
Models for continuous responses and explanatory variables: Multiple regression
Models for continuous responses and continuous and discrete explanatory variables: ANCOVA and mixed models
Models for proportions: logistic model, survival curves
Models for discrete responses and explanatory variables: categorical models. Models analysis of frequencies: log-linear models.
The generalized linear model. Assumptions and limitations of linear models. Variable transformation. Introduction to the generalized additive model
